Masters of Sex S02E08 "Mirror, Mirror"

I like that everyone's fashion has evolved with the times except for Bill's.

I love this consultancy position Betty has taken on.

Masters of Sex S02E07 "Asterion"

Lester sure got hardened in Hollywood.

Betty's yellow dress is amaaaazing.

Lots of time elapsing quickly in this episode. A new baby already?

Bill continues the proud male tradition of refusing to take money offered to help him and his family.

"I provide the roof!" Whoa. Libby is great in this scene, too.

Nice to see Libby and Ginny bonding in the ladies' room.

Wow. That was even worse than not apologizing, Bill.

It's a little contrived that Ginny left Bill impotent.

I love Betty the CPA!

And now we're in the 60s.

"You have more of me than you even realize."

More male hypocrisy - Austin decides he actually *doesn't* want his girlfriend naked on film.

Yay! Betsy Brandt is back! Well, just for the one scene. It's a little convenient that she has a rare sexual abnormality, but whatevs.

Lovely ending scene, though I couldn't quite tell whose birthday it was.

Masters of Sex S02E06 "Blackbird"

Another especially fine episode.

I love the culmination of Virginia and Lilian's relationship. It was special and beautiful. (Even if Ginny did kind of pull a Walter White letting Jane die. (JK. Totally different.)). It's one of the best female friendships I've seen on TV outside of the Golden Girls. I hope Julianne Nicholson gets some award nominations for this season.

I like the storyline with Betty and her husband. My heart breaks for both Betty and for Gene.

But I miss Beau Bridges and Allison Janney, too.

I don't like where they've taken Libby. Hopefully now that she's fired Coral her obsession will end and she can go back to being a sympathetic character. It seems like the writers intentionally made her less sympathetic for the course of Bill's affair with Ginny (which looks to be over?) so that we could still root for Ginny. Why can't they both be sympathetic characters?

Courtney B. Vance is great.

I like that the show didn't let on that Virginia had a boyfriend so that the audience finds out at the same time as Bill.

The X-Files S07E08 "The Amazing Maleeni"

I love this episode. It reminds me very much of S2's "Humbug," or something else Darin Morgan would write.

"The hand may be quicker than the eye, but it still leaves fingerprints." I love you Dana Scully.

The heckler is pretty cute, though.

Law & Order S01E03 "The Reaper's Helper"

"He was king of the prom" You mean Prom King?

In the early days witnesses stop what they're doing to talk to the cops.

Law & Order S01E02 "Subterranean Homeboy Blues"

That opening scene was a lot more involved than many are in later seasons.

And they show the name of the episode.

I didn't know (before I watched E1) that Cragen started off in Homicide.

I like this public defender Ms. Green.

Wait, is that Cynthia Nixon? It totally is!!

So she's saying it wasn't racism, but...misandry?

Wait, so her perception of them as a threat only matter if it was an accurate?

Homicide: LIfe on the Street 308 "All Through the House"

Why bother putting up a Christmas tree ON Christmas Eve?

Hahaha, they're playing Christmas music in the morgue.

And this lady has her servants trimming her tree on Christmas Eve? I'm no expert, but isn't that a bit late?

Munch at the batting range is awesome. (Is that what it's called? A batting range?)

Aw, I'm glad the kid's dad is alive.

Where is rich lady mother getting dressed up to go?

How are they playing hearts with 5 people?

Homicide: Life on the Street 307 "Happy to Be Here"

This show would benefit from a Bubbles

Has this Thorne guy been in other episodes besides that one where he wanted a gun exchange?

I bet it wasn't Danvers that sent Kay those flowers.

You gotta feel for this kid when he's describing the bicycle he was going to buy with the $500 he was paid to murder someone.

I love that Bayliss, in his brokenheartedness, needs beer and cookies.

JESUS Bayliss. You just pulled a gun on a sales clerk! That's robbery!!

I would like an appendix of all episodes of cop shows that end with a cop calling their kids "Just to say hello."

Luther S01E02

I'm pretty unimpressed by this show, mostly. Let's see how much longer I give it.

Is the wife going to get kidnapped again?

Yeah, I don't think I'm that interested in watching more.

Hmmm...well that turn of events with Alice at the end *might* merit one more episode.

Homicide: Life on the Street 306 "A Model Citizen"

The order of this series is so out of whack I'll be going by production code instead of S-E-.

Ah. The music in this episode is already cheerier than the last.

"You can almost feel the energy" Weird thing to say at a crime scene...

This "love at first sight" spark between Bayless and Emma is silly.

Oh Pembleton. I want McCoy to try one of Pembleton's cases. The righteous indignation would be through the roof.

I like that Kay's relationship with the lawyer guy just continues even though we never see them together.

Aw seriously? Hurt? What happened to what I said about the cheerier music??

The X-Files S07E07 "Orison"

Oh hey, it's Herschel.

(I didn't blog the last episode, The Goldberg Variations, but it was good.)

I don't really remember the episode this is a follow up to.

 Oooh, trepanation

Whaaaaat? Did he turn into a monster in the other episode?

Really? He's in Scully's closet? How did he get there?

Wednesday, September 10, 2014

Homicide: Life on the Street S03E07 "The Last of the Watermen"

G looks funny in his street clothes.

Why is this episode all sad and stuff already? What's with this sad music with Kay driving?

Like, really, enough with the bullshit cheesy music, please.

When law-women go on vacation, they end up working. (Kay, Scully)

Homicide: Life on the Street S03E06 "Crosetti"

I started watching S03E04 and Beau said Crosetti was dead. What?? So I looked it up and they aired this season out of order, too. So I skipped ahead so I can watch it in order. SMH.

So Crosetti was on vacation, and then he gets killed. Something going on with the actor?

I thought Crosetti's daughter was like a teenager?

Munch has a younger brother? There's another Munch??

This guy holding the baby saying Crosetti was happy is highly suspect. Oh, it's that friend of his that got shot.

Meldrick hearing Crosetti's tox screen results is a phenomenal piece of acting.

So I guess this episode was all about Meldrick's conspiracy theory about Crosetti's death, which is fitting.

Awwww,  Pembleton gave him an honor guard :)

Masters of Sex S02E04 "Dirty Jobs"

Why would Ginny treat DePaul different for knowing about her and Bill if she was under the impression that Ginny has known all along?

I think Ginny is being unreasonable.

Is...is that Sarah Silverman?

Ohhhh is this Betty's ex??

Don't be dense Bill.

"Once I"m done making Mr. Masters' bed, should I make yours too?" BURRRRRNNNN

It's interesting to see even Virginia be racist.

It looks like my original assessment was right - Libby has become a TV wife to either be hated or pitied.

Oh Betty, just tell him about Helen. You saw what happened last time you lied to him.

Betty and Helen laughing at the dinner table is a beautiful scene.

You know who I don't miss? Ethan.

Bill turning the wooing of patients over to Virginia is a nice turn.

HA! I had a feeling it was him taking down the fliers.

Extant S01E04 "Shelter"

It feels like there are two shows happening here - the alien baby and Ethan. I'll be interested to see if they have anything to do with each other.

So the underplot here is that a rich guy is dying and doing all kinds of experiments on people and aliens to save himself.

Is Ethan going to lose on purpose?

Well we turned on this grandpa real quick.

Yeah Molly probably should have told her dad that he needs to keep an eye on Ethan. Kidnapping aside, the kid tends to wander off.

Did they just KILL him??

They were using Ethan as bait? What if the husband had found him?

Are they going to take the embryo? Because she's just a baby maker, right?

I wonder if Molly would die for her son. If not, would her husband resent her? (Probably.)

Homicide: LIfe on the Street S03E03 "Extreme Unction"

I agree with the Lieutenant. Pembleton's being inappropriate. An appearance of impropriety could ruin the case.

Why do all cop shows do an episode with a MPD suspect? And every time the cop says s/he's faking. Like they know better.

Wait, why is it over between them? Did Russert just preemptively end it?

Pembleton laughing at the gloves monologue is the best reaction there could have been.

Homicide: Life on the Street S03E02 "Fits Like a Glove"

"Off the record?" Pembleton ain't no fool.

Haha, the Candyman is asking about whether there's a serial killer.

Hahahaha, Munch and Gus standing and staring at Bayless in the locker room is great!

Chain letters are illegal?

I kind of feel bad for Beth?

The profile sounds like that collector guy.

Homicide: Life on the Street S03E01 "Nearer My God to Thee"

"The networks make the writers and producers add sex." Will there be extra sex in this episode?

Oh Munch, you have no idea how right you are about the coming technology. "I'm talking about high definition. I'm talking about the fast lane of the information superhighway."

"I wish they would bring back Hawaii 5-0." Munch isn't the only one predicting the future!

Man, this lieutenant lady is a badass. Look at how she grabbed that gun!

Tony Todd?? The Candyman!!

Breaking into your own house, Beau? Really?

Oh at last we see Beth.

So is Beth a little crazy?

If it's not a sex crime it's probably someone trying to make it look like a sex crime.

True Blood S07E06

We got Chromecast so I watched this on TV while sitting on the couch and decided not to blog while watching.

Pretty good episode, I guess, propelling things forward. What's Violet's angle?

Masters of Sex S02E04

Courtney B. Vance will be in this episode? Neat, I guess.

Also, Allison Janney just won the Emmy for Best Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama and I am so very happy about it.

Is Courtney B. Vance going to get to interact with Detective Wheeler?

Lillian is going to die this season, isn't she.

It's nice that Ginny's dream-Bill does not have the same attitude about bringing her back on as real-Bill.

I would love to write a paper about this show and its concept of "The Work"

Did Ginny think of that excuse for meeting at the hotel off the cuff or had she been working on it in advance in case of an event like this?

I wish Libby wasn't so mean to the nanny, whose name I wish I knew...

I like the diet pill lady's attitude toward Ginny's condescension: "Maybe you're special."

Poor Betty. I bet if she told he husband that she's infertile he'd be understanding. He seems to generally care for and about her.

The lice stigma is a stubborn one, even nowadays. But here it's a race thing, too.

Are tubal ligations really irreversible? Or were they just thought to be at the time?

Lying to him, however, the pretzel man might not forgive.

Is Dr. Blonde going to get with Dr. DePaul? Is he going to "transform" her?

Oh. No. He's telling her about Ginny and Bill.

Coral. That's her name.

"Your hair is the same as yesterday" means that she didn't wash her hair?

Hmm, what's behind Lillian wanting Ginny to tell her about the affair? Is it a desire for trust and friendship?

Oh no. Libby is going to do Coral's hair. The nice thing to do, Libby, if you insist on having her wash her hair with the lice shampoo, would be to offer to pay to have her hair done again.

Is the show trying to make us dislike Libby so that we condone Bill's affair?

Oh, so Libby is paying for the hairdo. Still. That was pretty demeaning.

I don't know who this European guy is. Why is Lillian giving up her project? Because Ginny wouldn't tell her about her affair?

Bill is using the threat of turning gay to scare the Saxman away from observing his study.

Ginny's like "I did this for YOU. But it belongs to me too"?

I'm not a big fan of this diet pills subplot thing. Is that the point? Well, we'll see where it goes.

"I guess you would be the expert on phony Bettys" Oooooh, burnnnnn/

Well I guess pretzel man was kind of being a phony, too, by letting Betty think he didn't know about her past as a hooker.

Wow. I'd never seen Bill let himself look as vulnerable as that to Libby as when he was promising that he would take care of her.

Oooh, he went to a colored hospital!

Saturday, August 9, 2014

The X-Files S07E04 "Millennium"

Okay, I admit I haven't really been paying attention to this episode. What's going on?

But this episode is just a tie-in for Chris Carter's other show, right?

"Nobody likes a math geek, Scully." - Mulder

Whre are they that it appears to be daytime when it's midnight in Times Square?

Ahh!! They're kissing!!!!

Okay.

Friday, August 1, 2014

Extant S01E03 "Wish You Were Here"

I really like Halle's haircut in this.

Ahhh, so Julie feels like she is Ethan's mother.

So was the suicidal coworker also a hallucination?

So was Tim a plant to get her to come in voluntarily?

Tuesday, July 29, 2014

Extant S01E02 "Extinct"

So to recap: previously on Extant, Halle Berry is space pregnant and her son is a robot.

Oh, and also possibly ghost people?

There's no futuristic washing machine?

Oooh, Space Jenga!

I think I was reading something the other day about how female astronauts are only interesting in popular culture because women can get pregnant. I didn't read the full article, though...

So did the bosses do this to Halle on purpose, do we think? Or are they not in on it?

I think Survival of the Fittest is a bit more nuanced than that.

This Mother ghost/alien reminds me of doped up Mr. Burns in the X-Files episode of The Simpsons. "I bring you peace and love"

This friend is totally going to go traitor at some point.

So Yasumoto is dying, and sleeping with his board member.

Masters of Sex S02E03

"Erections aren't the totality of manhood." I feel like a thesis could be written on the first 10 minutes of this episode.

I like getting to see what Bill and Virginia's interpersonal relationship is like beyond the sex.

This is a really nice bottle episode.

I love how they go between talking about their fantasy marriage to weaving in their own pasts.

(Bill Masters being left at boarding school for Christmas is a lot less funny than Sterling Archer being left at boarding school for Christmas.)

I bet Bill just told Virginia more about his father than he ever told his wife.

The sound of Virginia touching herself over the image of the boxing match on TV. Whoa.

"Role playing throughout" ie, this is isn't *real*

"I'm begging you" That is so fraught given how Bill said he never ever begged his father to stop beating him.

"Better a tomboy than a sissy." Ayup.

"I want to see how it ends" Brings it full circle to Virginia telling her daughter that she likes to know how things will end.

True Blood S07E05

Rutina Wesley is still being credited. Hmmm

They seem to be angling to get Sookie and Bill back together.

"I liker her. I like you." "Is it all right if I haven't made up my mind about you yet?" "I really like her." I <3 Pam.

Hah. Jane Bodehouse's ancestor owned a bar.

I really like Jessica's dress.

I love Andy.

Carrie Preston is so wonderful as Arlene.

Pam looks awesome as a Republican asshole.

It seems like the fact that James cheating on her in the car that they bought together is what upset Jess the most.

Why is Willa looking for Arlene? (She looks awesome, btw)

All kinds of drama at this party.

Sarah Newlin running away from the yakuza and running into Eric is just like Sarah Connor running into Arnold in Terminator 2. Same shots, I think.

So after the party everyone leaves Sookie alone AND with a mess to clean up. Nice, guys.

Friday, July 25, 2014

Homicide: Life on the Street S02E04 "A Many Splendored Thing"

"She gave phone sex." GASP!

Bayless is so wigged out about all this and Pembleton is like, "Yeah, whatever."

Bayless is so judgmental. A victim who does sex work isn't as important, or as innocent, as an 11 year old girl.

Aw Munch, why you gotta ruin it?

Hahahaha. This bedroom full of pens is awesome. It's like a pen serial killer?

I knew that neighbor had something to do with this murder.

Oh no, is Munch going to steal away Bolander's lady?

So a leather jacket turns Bayless into Sandy from Grease?

Thursday, July 24, 2014

Terror in Resonance S01E03 "Search & Destroy"

Why aren't they analyzing the video itself?

This institute or orphanage or whatever it is reminds me of Monster.

I like this music during the reveal of the riddle's solution. Jazzy.

Tadanobu Asano should play Shibazaki in the inevitable live action adaptation.

So Shibazaki is the Lester Freamon of the (whatever agency this is.)

Masters of Sex S02E02

I'm glad Betty is back.

Yaaaay!!!!1 It's Betsy Brandt!!!

Oh, is this the Rose girl?

Did Masters & Johnson invent laproscopy?

Oh no, is Libby going to be horrible to the nanny?

Sunday, July 20, 2014

Homicide: Life on the Street S02E03 "Black and Blue"

Aw, Bolander's just lonely. (Whatever happened with that medical examiner?)

I feel like Pembleton jeopardized his case against whoever did kill Cox by coercing a confession from that other guy.

Good episode.

Saturday, July 19, 2014

Homicide: Life on the Street S02E02 "See No Evil"

"You're the big E on the eye chart" That's a good one.

This is the second time we've seen one of the cop's infirm friends who doesn't like the indignity of his infirmity.

If this guy was Navy, he must have some pension or something for his family. Won't that be void if he kills himself?

I thought when the went to the external of the house we'd hear the shot. I like that we didn't.

What a way that would be to find out someone you know died - seeing their name on the homicide board.

Gus from The Wire seems to have the same personality as a detective in Homicide.

Extant S01E01 "Re-Entry"

Oh, that's whatserface. Control, from POI.

Oooh, that is some high-tech trash disposal mechanism.

Whaaaat? The son is a robot?

This husband seems so nice and understanding. Is he a robot too? Or does he have some secret? Or is he actually just nice?

Oh, is that the chick from The Newsroom who looks like Leelee Sobieski?

Does the husband have some sort of accent? I can't tell...

I hope Husband isn't sleeping with Leelee Sobieski. That would be obvious.

Oh hey, I know that guy, too. Oh! He's Hank's boss on Breaking Bad!

Well these cameras in the therapist's office are a gross violation of privacy. Obviously something sinister is at play here.

So when she deleted the video she thought, what, that she'd had a hallucination and didn't want people to think she's crazy?

Well this shows promise. Much better than The Afters, the previous Amazon outing I watched.

Friday, July 18, 2014

True Blood S07E04 "Death Is Not The End"

Hoyt!

Did Alcide's dad always have two different colored eyes? Or was that just the lighting in that scene?

Are they doing these flashbacks because they don't have enough present-day plot to carry it?

The 80s were good for Pam.

Where's Arlene's baby? Or toddler now, I guess.

That's a stupid promise, Sookie.

"For Arlene and Nicole" What about the other police guy? Nobody knows yet that he's dead.

90s Eric is the best thing to happen yet this season. Possibly last season too, I don't really remember.

Lafayette is still awesome.

I think this is the most lines Ginger has ever had.

"What kind of trouble are you in?" Huh. Sookie's actually not the one in trouble this time.

Arlene made it this long without knowing Sam is a shifter.

Hey, remember that plotline with Sam's brother? Haha.

The good guy vampires are so much better dressed than the bad guy vampires.

A vampire fight happens at super fast speed, so we're going to show it in slo-mo!

Why isn't Pam helping Arlene?

Nice to see Terry, though.

Terror in Resonance S01E02 "Call & Response"

Are 1 & 2 the same as 9 & 12

How did only person in the police department know the riddle of the Sphinx?

A riddle is enought for a search warrant?

Terror in Resonance S01E01 "Falling"

All right, I'm intrigued. Only two episodes have aired so far. Let's see where this goes...

Tuesday, July 15, 2014

The X-Files S07E03 "Hungry"

"What's your point?" That is Mulder's typical response to Scully in a nutshell.

Does that kid live alone? Because his apartment/house/whatever is HUGE!

How come these human monsters of the week never go to a hospital?

Derwood's pretty smart.

This therapist is totally going to get killed.

It's nice, though, to have a predictable, formulaic episode after heady trio we just went through.

Peter Jennings? As the most handsome man in the world?

And is this therapist trying to cure an eating disorder with a mirror? Is that standard practice?

This episode is also interesting in that it follows the monster, but we haven't seen too much of Mulder and Scully and their ruminations.

How did Mulder deduce that it's him?

Ohhhh no, is he going to eat his land lady?

The kid playing Rob is pretty great. This monologue at the Overeaters Anonymous meeting where he's describing what it tastes like to eat a brain? Good stuff.

Are we ever going to find out who the man in the car was?

Why is this therapist baiting him?

The therapist says she knows what he's talking about. I want her to turn into one too.

So he's, what, a shark boy? Who eats brains?

That episode was like a bad parody of itself.

Monday, July 14, 2014

Masters of Sex S02E01

Did Ginny change her hair?

Oh Beau Bridges :( This electroshock therapy makes me so sad.

I feel like I should be uncomfortable with this sex between Ginny and Bill, but since there's been a season break I don't really remember.

Is Ginny saying no to Ethan BECAUSE of Bill?

Ginny is trying to sell the diet pills AT the hospital?

I like Ginny and Libby's friendship so much. I hope Bill doesn't spoil it.

Is that the Sax Man???

Oooh, is Betty's peanut guy going to fund a new study?

Oh no, is blonde whatserface going to move to LA and not be on the show anymore?

I would think that Libby will go back to the negro hospital.

Bill is just awful sometimes.

Oh no. Did he kill himself??

"I don't want you to feel led on" Isn't Bill the one leading himself on?

Sunday, July 13, 2014

Orange Is The New Black S01E01 "I Wasn't Ready"

I've actually already watched this episode (pre-blog), so I don't have a whole lot to say. Oops.

Saturday, July 12, 2014

The X-Files S07E02 "The Sixth Extinction: Part 2: Amor Fati"

I already don't like this episode, but I have to get through it to continue the series.

Like, what is even happening?

Why are the sunflower seeds in the fridge?

I don't believe that the Deepthroat guy is actually him.

This whole thing in this house is kind of Red Room-ish.

Who is this guy that was hacking Scully's files? Is that Kritschgau?

Obviously this town is fake.

I really want Scully to sock Fowler.

Is this dream induced to be what they want it to be? Or is it Mulder's own imagination?

Like, this trio of episodes are good on their own, I guess, but don't seem to quite fit in as part of the series.

Also I'm not really buying that the Smoking Man is Mulder's father because they've kind of tried to hint at that in the past only to refute it time and again.

Mulder is a Yankees fan?

This last scene with Scully is nice.

"Even when the world was falling apart, you were my constant." Awwwwwwww!

Well, I guess this episode isn't TERRIBLE.Okay, I actually kind of like it.

Homicide: Life on the Street S02E01 "Bop Gun"

Apparently this was the last episode of the season to film, but the first to air, so I'm watching it first.

Oh 90s fashion

Robin Williams? Jake Gyllenhaal? Some guest stars!

Ohmigod it Jake Gyllenhaal the son?? He's tiny!!

Shouldn't they question the family all separately?

Do they do this L&O style where the big guest star (Robin Williams) is the perp?

(Or maybe Robin Williams wasn't a big star yet? I think he was, right?)

Luther S01E01 "Episode 1"

Am I watching this just for Idris Elba? Maybe.

Huh. It just occurred to me that both McNulty and Stringer Bell were played by British actors.

I love how TV policemen think they can harass their wives at work because they're police. (Luther, whatsisface on True Detective...)

I like that Luther's superior is female. (But if his superior were a male would they be macho and competitive?)

My general impression is that the entire show rides on Idris Elba. But because he is who he is, that might be enough.

Homicide: Life on the Street S01E09 "Night of the Dead Living"

Why is the little boy still here?

So I take it this is a bottle episode?

"Maybe he's a wild baby." Haha, Munch.

I'm glad they didn't immediately make Kay take care of the baby.

What's with this music, though?

Is this episode out of order? Why is Bolander in a tizzy about calling Dr. Blythe for a date?

Oh right, this episode took place "last September." So does that mean we won't find out about Kay's sister?

Like, really. This music is awful.

I love this bit with Giardelli telling Pembleton to take off his tie.

Who is Eva?

Friday, July 11, 2014

Homicide: Life on the Street S01E08 "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes"

I feel like the Lieutenant would get along with Cragen.

Is that Adena case really going to go unclosed? Neat.

TV cop supervisors that care about their people are truly the best TV cop supervisors.

I love Munch. I do.

It's refreshing that when the detectives run into an obstacle (like the Chinese murder last episode), they just have to stop. In L&O they always get around the stumbling blocks. It's nice then they can't.

This scene making up a test to use on the suspect is like that scene in The Wire when they use a Xerox machine as a lie detector.

Nice contrast of the Lieutenant getting up in arms about the asbestos and then laughing about the no-smoking area concern.

I like this show.

I am so glad I never took up smoking.

Wait, is Pembleton a happily married male detective? It just occurred to me.

It is nice to see whatsisface actually sad about his divorce, not just bitter.

Homicide: Life on the Street S01E07 "And the Rockets Dead Glare"

I like the way they write the name of each new victim on the board. Helps me keep track.

Bai Ling?

Wait, I know that guy in the denim jacket! Who is he? Where do I know him from...

Munch is a stoner?

"This is not the Chinese embassy, this is a Chinese restaurant." Haha.

I love Kay more and more. Totally underrated lady TV cop. (ie, I'd never heard of her.)

You couldn't tell DNA from a hair in the 90s?

I wonder if this talk about legalizing drug inspired the Hampsterdam plot in The Wire. (Probably not directly.)

Why does Pembleton need to keep this secret from the Lieutenant? It's not like he's going to replace him.

I gotta admire the show's dedication to this Lincoln assassination thing.

I feel like it's too soon in the show for Pembleton to get promoted. I like him as a detective.

The Lieutenant sure is a nostalgic guy.

Thoughts on Nominations for the 66th Emmy Awards

-  There are some great contenders for the Emmy for Best Drama Series. I've seen 4 of the 6, and they're stellar. In a list like that, though, it really illustrates the lack of diversity on TV. So many white male anti-heroes, so little bandwidth.

-   If American Horror Story is a miniseries/movie, then True Detective should also be in that category. Unless they just wanted to take on Breaking Bad for Best Drama, which is possible.

 -   The fact that the nominees in these categories are so much more competitive and the awards so much more hotly contested than the Oscars really shows the state of entertainment. Television is where it's at.

-   Look at all that talent in Guest Actress, Drama Series, for crissakes! I really hope the award goes to Allison Janney, but Jane Fonda and Dianna Rigg were damn good, too.

- This is the first year I'd be okay with Peter Dinklage taking Best Supporting Actor.

-  Tatiana Maslany, once again without a nomination. Clone Club's gon' be pissed.

- The most outrageous snub, though, in my mind is that Hannibal gets nothing. Breaking Bad has all my cinematography and editing love, but Hannibal is doing the most interesting things in those categories on network TV and certainly deserves a nod - sound design, too, this season.

-  Do I need to watch more comedies?

- I think we've reached a period in television where a category for best Showrunner would be appropriate.

-  My only prediction for the awards: Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey's interactions in the audience will win Most Valuable GIF Material. (And then maybe tumblr will forgive the powers that be for snubbing Tatiana (Unless Clone Club and the Fannibals team up and start their own award show.).)

Sometimes I feel like a traitor to film because I watch so much more TV than I do movies. But it seems there are genuinely more interesting things happening on TV than at the movies. The television format (so I can include Netflix, which isn't technically on TV) is offering more risk-taking and creativity in storytelling than movies are these days. And certainly TV takes up much more of the public discourse than movies. TV shows are cultural phenomena now; premieres and finales are the new blockbusters.

Homicide: Life on the Street S01E06 "A Dog and Pony Show"

I like how cavalier Pembleton is about investigating the murder of a dog.

This fancy mistress character sure is something.

Did Munch get his conspiracy theories from the Danny Devito detective?

Why is it that whenever the police break down a door with a warrant there's an elderly relative just sitting on the couch? This show and The Wire.

I like this partnership between Kay and her partner whose name I don't remember (Is he a Baldwin?). I like that there isn't really sexual tension. But she can still care if he thinks she's sexy.

"All you need to do is hold that baby tight so it knows you're there. Skin to skin." Wow. That actually seems like really good parenting advice.

Is that D??? It totally is!!

True Blood S07E03

For being immortal, I think more (named) vampire characters have died on this show than human characters.

Who's this guy in the car with Sam?

Also, I don't care about Luddy Mae at all.

"I'm the Mayor now." Mmmm...I don't think that's how democracy works.

I am so hot and cold about Violet. Sometimes she's pretty awesome, but other times she's terrible.

Nobody stayed at Jason's house with the kids?

Well Goodbye, Mrs. Fortinberry. (Does that mean Hoyt is going to come back?)

I actually don't mind Sookie in this episode.

Does this answer the question from the very first season of why Bill seemed to recognize the name Fortinberry? (Or was that Bellefleur?)

Willa is adorable this season.

The Reverend wasn't much of a character before this season, but I'm okay with him.

I like that rescinding a vampire's invitation makes the door open.

I like Eric's 80s hair.

I would like it more if Eric had them kill Sylvie instead of Pam with no hesitation. Or little hesitation.

Is this Guru guy full of it or just a crackpot?

Is the ninja guy a vampire or has he just not aged?

Well that's sad, I guess.

Homicide: Life on the Street S01E05 "Three Men and Adena"

It's nice once Bayless and Pembleton get on the same wavelength for the interrogation.

The acting in this episode is aces.

Homicide: Life on the Street S01E04 "A Shot in the Dark"

It seems like poor etiquette to follow up a lead on another detective's case without his okay.

OMG Munch doing karaoke.

I don't have much to say about these episodes, I guess, but I'm enjoying the show.

Fargo S01E01

So far it's definitely in keeping with the spirit of the movie.

Billy Bob is delightful(ly creepy).

Chekhov's machine gun?

I hardly recognized Bob Odenkirk, and I've bee looking for him!

Is the White Russian special in the diner a nod to the Coens?

Aw, I liked the police chief :(

Good stuff. Molly is an instantly likeable character.

True Blood S07E02

What? Where is this conversation between Eric and Jayson coming from?

I am all for this scene, but what is going on??

Okay, it was a sex dream. Tyler owes me a coke.

"Oh yeah I found a dead girl in the woods."

These vampires are talking like they're survivors on The Walking Dead.

Why are these vampires eating again already? And during the day?

Arlene is a good character.

When did they have time to do all that spray painting while they were being attacked by vampires?

What happened to going door to door?

Did the people in this town not have internet? And this woman left her diary about her affair with a vampire right on her bureau where her husband could easily read it?

This is taking place in 2011?

Why do they need to sleep in 15 minute increments?

Jessica could find Adelaide a lot faster without Andy.

Nice circular ending there.

Tuesday, June 24, 2014

True Blood S07E01 "Jesus Gonna Be Here"

All I remember from the end of last season is Eric naked on a mountain.

Who were these hostile vampires?

I thought Hep V killed the vampires? It makes them evil (or something)?

What are you doing introducing all these new characters?

Okay, okay, Jessica's new boyfriend is a Vietnam vet-era vampire. That's kind of interesting. (Does he have a name, though?)

I am so distracted by Violet's thigh gap. How does that even work?

What happened to Pam's lipstick?

Did Eric leave some sort of scavenger hunt for Pam?

Wait, what was with that body Sookie stumbled across in the woods?

Andy's daughter looks like Jennifer Garner.

Why is everyone blaming Sookie?

I don't know what's happening.

Homicide: Life on the Street S01E01 “Gone for Goode”

The Wire clearly owes a lot to this show already. That conversation about whether to pick up the phone? And the thing with the Mayor's security detail.

OMG, Andre Braugher looks so young!

Monday, June 23, 2014

Orphan Black S02E10 "By Means Which Have Never Yet Been Tried."

Castor? As in Castor and Pollux? Dude clones??

Why would you let Duncan brew his own tea??

"Enjoy your oopherectomy"

It must have been funny to film this dance party.

How does Sarah know who Marion is? Or does she not?

Man, Helena just keeps getting kidnapped.

Is Paul a clone?

Ohhh! Mark is the clone!!

What is it that Sarah will never forgive Siobhan for? Having Helena kidnapped?

Tuesday, June 17, 2014

The Wire S05E10 "-30-"

They've already got to the Mayor with this thing?

I appreciate that Kima was the one to rat, because it's the first action she's taken that's really affected other characters. But I wish they'd built up her motivation a bit more.

This courthouse leak thing could maybe have been more interesting.

Why didn't they offer Rawls a State Police position earlier?

Oh good! We do get to see Prez this season

 He's got a beard!

I want to believe Dukie, but I just don't.

Oooh, Jay is going to be pissed if he finds out and nobody told him.

I think this elevator CCTV camera shot may have been the only camera footage shot this season.

Oh! Is Templeton going to kill this guy??

The two things about the newspaper arc that I like are Gus and the story being written about Bubs.

He's not a bad lawyer, I'll give him that.

"You got paid, too." Rawls has a point.

Another dead cop? Who's this one?

Oh, is it McNulty? Cute.

Oh Lester still is from that woman from the first season.

Where's Kima? Why wasn't she at the wake?

Is anything else going to happen, or are the last 20 minutes all epilogue?

Nice moment between Daniels and Carver.

So who's the acting commissioner?? Landsman?

Hahahhahaha, Valchek is the commissioner? Ha.

So what happens to McNulty?

The Wire S05E10 "Late Editions"

Are there roller coaster shots in the opening credits just because of that ONE amusement park scene? They don't go back there?

"Be creative, gentlemen." Bunny was creative. That didn't work out too well for him.

Nobody told Marlo that Omar was calling him out??

Marlo's "My name is my name" scene is the most fired up I've seen him and the most I've given a shit about him.

Namond?? He sure cleaned himself up!

I don't like the goatee on Bunny.

Is Kima going to rat out everyone?

Is Bubs going to speak about Sherrod?

Bubbles is one of the most consistently compelling characters on the show.

If Michael gets killed, will that leave Dukie to take care of Bug? Or will he have to go back to his mom?

I do like that Snoop asked how her hair looked before she got shot.

Was I ever supposed to care about Michael?

So is the finale going to be all fallout from stuff that just came up this season? It seems like all of the long plots have been wrapped up already.

Monday, June 16, 2014

The Wire S05E08 "Clarifications"

Oh don't look so smug, McNulty.

I thought the story about the vet was the one true thing that Scott wrote.

!!!!!!!!!!
Who the hell is this kid that just shot Omar?????

That's it? Omar's dead? Who was that kid??

Oh, Scott embellished. Of course, Omar just got shot and then they cut over to this bullshit and I couldn't care at all about this newspaper.

(Well, Gus is all right.)

So the only way to make Kima relateable is to make her a womanizer like McNulty?

There are only a couple episodes left, so where are they going with this serial killer thing? Will McNulty get caught?

Even The Wire falls into the trap of making the FBI look like buffoons to make the police look better.

Sigh. Omar's murder doesn't even get a write-up in the paper.

So far, the only people they've shown being negatively affected by the serial killer thing is the alleged victims' families.

Orphan Black S02E09

Aw, look - Alison and Donnie are working together!

I want Helena to have a happy ending.

Delphine's hair is great.

I love that Donnie's solution to getting rid of a body is to dump it in the lake. He's a real Heisenberg.

Kira doesn't really have much of a personality.

Mrs. S looks sassy with those braids.

Last episode we had Dr. Moreau, this episode we have Dr. Frankenstein.

I think Gracie kinda likes Helena.

So religious nut guy wanted Gracie pregnant without having sex?

Are Gracie and Helena going to team up now? Soon?

Yay Donnie and Alison!

Helena "impregnating" religious nut is awesome. That's the kind of role reversal I can get behind.

I wonder if Rachel was just testing to see if Delphine would leak info to Sarah.

Wait, whaaaat??

Ohhh, Delphine was in on it!

Game of Thrones S04E10

I didn't live-blog this one, so here are my thoughts in no particular order.

Stannis' arrival at the Wall: totally underwhelming. What was that look Melisandre gave Jon Snow?

What the fuck are they doing to The Mountain?? Some Robocop shit?

"Your legacy is a lie." Lena Headey was on fire in that scene. But when Cersei turns to Jaime, was she being sincere or just making a play to be able to stay with her son?

Bran's plot finally starts getting interesting! I didn't care when Jojen died, and they didn't do much to try and make me care. Even his sister's grief rang false for me. But the skeleton zombies! Aren't those guys from Zelda? And what's with the tree fairies? And the old guy? Some sort of puppet man from The Dark Crystal?

Boohoo, Daenerys had to lock up her dragons. Will this make them disloyal to her or something significant to the plot? Or is it just sad for her? These court scenes are getting tiresome, too.

Nice bonding moment between Brienne and Arya over being tomboys.

The fight between Brienne and the Hound was pretty evenly matched. (Or maybe it was just the Hound's wound slowing him down.) First we had Trial by Combat, now we have Custody Battle by Combat. It says something interesting about Arya that she didn't intervene. She's kind of gone full mercenary. I was sad to see The Hound die, but I thought he had a pretty fitting end. When he was trying to goad Arya into killing him, really he was confessing his sins.

So Arya's on the way to Braavos at last. Okay.

Let's talk about that final sequence. How much of that did Jaime orchestrate? Was it his full intention to reveal the truth to Tyrion and sic him on Tywin? Varys didn't seem to be in on that part of the plan. And given Cersei and Jaime's odd reunion, was Cersei in on it?

I loved at the end when Varys turns to go back to King's Landing, and then he hears the bells and he's like, "Wait. JK. I'm gonna go get on the boat."

I understand the surprise element, but I would like to learn more about Shae's arc that led her into Tywin's bed. With only the context we have, how is she painted? Some interpretations are more sympathetic than others, and the show didn't do much to point us in one direction or another.

So Tywin falls. This leaves something of a power vacuum. Cersei was worried about Tommen being ripped apart by Margery and Tywin vying for power. Now what? Who will pull the strings? (Certainly Cersei won't marry Loras anymore.) And if Varys is gone, there is no information-broker either. Chaos in King's Landing, I tell you!

The Wire S05E07 "Took"

I'm just not really buying this serial killer thing.

I don't care about Clay Davis enough to see all this stuff about his trial.

YAAAAYYYYY!!!!! IT'S MUNCH!!!!!

Is that it??? Is that the extent of the Munch cameo??

Omar just hobbles on up and they don't see him coming.

Friday, June 13, 2014

The Wire S05E06 "The Dickensian Aspect"

Hey! It's whatsisface! Sobotka! I was hoping he (or someone) would make an appearance.

Reporter's gonna keep making shit up, and fucking up McNulty.

Yeesh. Good speech, Carcetti.

Haha. "No connection" between the serial killer and the bodies in the vacants.

Daniels is good on his feet.

I would love to see Bunk get Marlo, just by ol' fashioned detective work.

What did Daniels just hand to Ronnie?

Marlo is going to find it hard to run this co-op, I think.

And with that, Marlo has disbanded Stringer Bell's legacy.

McNulty is such a baby.

I think McNulty may have convinced himself that there actually is a serial killer.

Don't put this on Lester, McNulty. You're not wrong, but don't shift the blame.

If McNulty kills that homeless guy I'm done.

It makes it believable when they use abbreviations to talk to each other. "PC" instead of "Probable Cause"

Is any of the stuff they get on Marlo going to be admissable??

The Wire S05E05 "React Quotes"

Apropos of a Facebook conversation I'm having: Snoop is a strong female, but she is not a strong character. Ergo, she is not a strong female character.

Remember when Stringer Bell wanted to put a hit on Clay Davis? Ah, memories!

Dukie got tall.

Surely the lawyer realizes that his new client came at the life of his old client, right?

I feel like *I* could talk more convincingly about serial killers than McNulty.

"How do you get from here to the rest of the world?" Ohhhh Dukie. Prez was trying to get you there! Going to high school is how you get to the rest of the world!

"Where am I going to find homeless people?" Seriously, guy?

This is backfiring, McNulty. Now the budget is being spent in the wrong places.

Aww, Herc just wants to make it up to Carver.

Is there Carver/Herc slashfic out there? (Have I already asked that?)

Michael is teaching Dukie to shoot. This is not going to lead anywhere good. Who's gonna get shot? Bug?

Sigh. This guy just keeps making shit up. But that's okay, because the serial killed is made up too.

Missing your kid's school play? Pretty cliche, McNulty.

Huh. Elena isn't all that smug about this.

Bubs' sponsor is such a good guy.

A few seasons ago Bunk said that Jimmy is at his best when he's working a case. Now he tells Beadie that working a case makes him worse.

Is that Royce talking on Davis' behalf? Why??

I guess I was onto something about both the reporter and McNulty making things up?

Hahahaha, now McNulty and the Reporter have each other's number.

Herc already got in trouble for a fake CI.

The Wire S05E04 "Transitions"

"Out of respect for the man's [Omar's] skill-set..." I love the way Prop Joe talks.

Whatever happened to whatever they were putting up were the towers went down?

Carver looks gooooood in that uniform.

It's nice to see how Marlo slowly comes to respect Prop Joe.

Every new person in a position of power (Mayor, Police Commissioner) gets told by a predecessor that the job involves eating shit.

The Wire, or, Men Talking About The Good Old Days of Being (Police, a Gangster, a Newspaper Reporter, a Union Worker, a Politician, a Schoolteacher)

Oh hey, it's Herc!

So is Kima babysitting just for practice talking to kids?

I bet Elena would get a smug satisfaction out of seeing Jimmy fall into his old ways.

This episode is about things that *mean* something. (Herc's discussion with Carver, Prop Joe about his (grand?)parent's house).

Marlo also seems colder than the other gangsters because he keeps killing these characters we know and love.

The Wire S05E03 "Not for Attribution"

I do not understand how Jimmy can entertain this idea.

If she gets it free at the office, why go to buy it at the convenience store?

Oh, so that's why there was a roller coaster in the opening credits.

These newspaper guys kind of reinforce the series' theme of downtrodden guys working for bureaucratic institutions that are systematically broken.

Uh oh, is Butch gonna get killed?

Thursday, June 12, 2014

The Wire S05E02 "Unconfirmed Reports"

"The game's rigged" Was it Bodie that said that to McNulty?

Whatever happened to Lester's CI lady friend from the first season?

"I don't want some amorphous series detailing societies ills." Is that some sort of meta-commentary on the show?

I think this reporter Scott is played by someone who played a bad guy in Law & Order, so he seems extra sleazy.

Avon! Long time, no see!

What the hell is Jimmy trying to achieve?

The Wire S05E01 "More With Less"

From this intro it looks like we're going more digital. Internet n' stuff!

I like the visuals on this intro, but I'm not crazy about this version of the song.

Is there anyone left from the Barksdale days? Poot?

When did Carver get promoted?

Oh, well it's been a year.

Are take-home cars that common?

Newsroom, eh? Let's look at another bureaucratic institution!

Hey! It's Gale!

They send the novice lady reporter to go to the strip club to threaten a drug dealer?

Are we going to see more of Prez this season?

"I wonder what it feels like to work in a real fucking police department" Who said that in an earlier season?

Herc is working for the mob lawyer?

The Wire S04E13 "Final Grades"

I love Landsman's "Homicide" lanyard.

Why does everyone use and abandon Bubbles??

NO!!! Bubbles!!!!! How the hell did he hang himself???? :(

Oh good, he's alive.

Ha. Nice epigraph (and attribution).

This really illustrates what a massacre drug violence is.

Why does Lester want Herc?

Come on, Landsman. Do right by Bubbles. You're his last chance. Take action. Do something.

No, don't just cut him loose. Come on.

Ohhhh, Lester needs Herc because he saw the nail gun.

"Kids don't vote." Come on, Carcetti. You're better than that.

Greeks? Are the Greeks back??

Omar is a likeable character because he's cheeky, daring, and he has a code.

Ooooh, McNulty wants in on this. He's not going to be able to resist this one.

Ha. The Greeks ARE back.

Does Marlo's organization have a lawyer?

Is McNulty going to find out that Bodie killed Wallace?

Chess metaphor - nice throwback to D in the first season.

Bodie lasted a long time.

Carcetti and Bunny haven't met yet, have they? I'd like to see what they could do together.

I've never seen Bunny so nervous.

Oh man, this episode is extra long.

Marlo seems more cold blooded because he's got no "family" feel to his gang, I think. He murders people with very little proof. He's got no loyalty.

The Wire S04E12 "That's Got His Own"

Marlo's hits seem so much more cold-blooded than Avon's hits were. Is it because they're so explicitly and thoroughly premeditated?

Wait, is this Michael shooting Chris??

Oh it's paintball.

I'm surprised that vacant building was dry enough for the body to mummify like that.

Why is Landsman ripping Lester a new one? Aren't bodies Lester finds no longer Landsman's responsibility?

If the schools have such a funding issue, then Carcetti should be all for academic research grants for school programs (ie, Bunny's program), right?

Is "Farmer in the Dell" the only song Omar knows?

I don't particularly trust Renaldo, but I don't think I'd enjoy being Omar's chauffeur either if he were my boyfriend.

Poor Marimow. It must be tough to be so hated.

Oh Herc. You don't even know how lucky you are that you still have a job. Not to mention the stripes.

I kind of want to be a forensic accountant. Sifting through a paper trail actually sounds like fun to me.

Why is the $50mil school debt just in the papers now? It's not new news.

Oh no, Bubbles. Who are you going to kill?

I kind of like the principal. She's no-nonsense.

Prez's doing sex ed now?

Lex wasn't even a drug murder.

I love Freddie in this role. (Er, the actor who plays Freddie on House of Cards. What's his name? Reg Cathey?)

Dukie's smart with computers. Nowadays he COULD drop out of school and get a good job.

I like Randy's foster mom. I hope Randy doesn't get killed.

Oh no. Sherrod isn't going to wake up, is he.

Did the guy who plays Bubbles get any awards for this role?

Did Daniels let Rawls have that one (putting the stats on Royce) on purpose?

"It's another bright idea" I love that Bunny recognizes that he's kind of a radical.

Oh shit! Fire bombing??

Oh shit. I thought it would be Randy that got hurt in the attack. It was his foster mom?? She was a good lady.

This episode is heavy.

The Wire S04E11 "A New Day"

Also, last episode: Bodie was upset that Fat Kevin got killed. Does he not remember that time he killed Wallace?

That officer that broke the kid's fingers is the one that oughta get fired. The kids should report him.

Why do I feel like Cedric is ultimately going to get screwed? Things have been going too smoothly for him.

Ohhhh, this is a bad plan, kids.

Hahaha, I like this thing Carcetti is doing to get the departments moving.

Is it just because he's Littlefinger that I keep thinking I'm not supposed to like Carcetti?

Has Rawls still not picked up that he's not next in line for commissioner?

Well now he gets it.

Herc is great and all, but he really keeps screwing up. It's time for him to go.

Who was that that Lester was looking up?

Does Herc even have any idea of all the shit he's stirred up?

Bunny needs City Hall to sign off on his radical plan? Fat chance.

Ooooh they're about to find all them bodies....

That final shot of Bunk in front of the vacants is nice.

The Wire S04E10 "Misgivings"

I don't really trust Omar's new boyfriend.

This Clay Davis is one corrupt fuck.

Herccccccc. Stop ignoring Bubbles!!!

I like how Colvin looks mostly just amused by Namond calling him in.

Prop Joe is engineering SOMEthing.

Oh Bubbles. Good one. Herc is going to be in deep trouble.

So Mrs. Daniels did win.

Burrell is out. What does he care who gets the job?

What?? When did McNulty's kids get so big???

This is a pretty brutal beating. As the audience, we're meant to trust Michael that this man is a bad guy, but we haven't actually seen evidence of that. (And Chris seems to be taking it personally.)

This would sit with me better if Michael had tried talking to a social worker first. But maybe that's the point? The title of the episode IS "Misgivings," after all.

Tuesday, June 10, 2014

The Wire S04E09 "Know Your Place"

Guys. "Little" could be ironic.

Bunk is at his most interesting when he's interacting with Omar.

They're going to steal Prez's credit card, aren't they.

Aww, they're applying what they learned in Prez's class to a real world situation...gambling...

Why do I feel like Herc isn't going to keep his promise to Bubs?

I thought Kima and Cheryl (is it Cheryl?) got back together? When did they break up again?

Awwww, Prez has really reached these kids.

Oh no. Is Bubbles going to get killed between now and tomorrow??

So will this dinner be all feel-good or a disaster scene?

I love that Bunny isn't telling them how to act at all. Just letting them react and do what they do.

I think I've said it before, but I really like Ronnie and Cedric as a couple.

Did we find out yet if Cedric's wife won her race?

Uh oh. Is Michael going to have his father hit?

The Wire S04E08 "Corner Boys

People still said "Audi" in 200whenever?

That's bold, Kima. Saying "fuck that" to the mayor elect and telling him to make a new pot.

The murder board has more names on it when there were the dead girls in the can, and that was supposed to seem like a lot.

Omar was smart to point to the fact that if he didn't do it, whoever did is still out there.

It's nice to see that even murder detectives have downtime. (I type as I watch this at work. Shhhh.)

Man, I hated fractions.

Is Bunny using this classroom as his own personal gangster focus group?

Prop Joe is pretty good at those fake accents.

I really don't like Namond's mother. (Obviously.)

Does Commissioner guy (what's his name again?) not know that he's on the way out?

Now he does.

Game of Thrones S04E09

Sam has a point. Not taking a wife and not having kids says nothing about what else you could do.

"Jon Snow is mine." Oh yeah, what about Sookie? Is Sookie yours too?

"Thousands of books and no eyes to read them!" Maester Eamon would like The Twilight Zone.

Ooooh, I wonder if Maester Eamon's long lost love is a character we know. Lady Oleanna, maybe?

"From now on, wherever you go, I go too." Sam channeling some Book of Ruth right thurr.

So what happens if the Wildlings defeat the Nights Watch? The White Walkers come and invade everywhere? Is the Wall really all that's stopping them?

I like this guy's definition of leadership, actually. Everyone will question him, but he mustn't question himself.

Hmmm, interesting quandary. Sam will certainly make more of a difference to Gilly if he stays alive than he will to the Nights Watch if he fights and dies. This is one of those things where honor is kind of stupid.

Is Ygritte going to get killed? I feel like Ygritte is going to get killed. Which would be too bad, because we haven't seen much of her this season.

Well this music is different. What are those, tubas?

Why does the Nights Watch seem so ineffectual and hopeless? What happened to all that training and stuff? I thought that was all they did. I thought they were supposed to be kind of admired, not a band of misfits? Then again, they ARE mostly a bunch of criminals.

What? Why is there a little boy? Where did he come from?

That does not look like a very good belay system.

Why are bald guys with facial scars always sadists?

Are they really going to devote an entire episode to this fight? Because I don't care that much.

If Tyrion had taken that deal, would he have made it up to the Wall before all this?

So when Oberyn says he won't die, he does. But when Sam says he won't die, he doesn't?

What's with this Wes Anderson style pan of the wall fight? Bleh.

Jon Snow would have been wise to wear a face mask. He must know that Ygritte will want to kill him.

Yup. There goes Ygritte.

I would care about Ygritte dying a lot more if we'd seen more of her this season.

It would have been interesting to see what Ygritte would have done if she hadn't been killed, though.

Aww, even Jon Snow's furry shawl looks sad.

The Wire S04E07 "Unto Others"

I like Carver a lot. He's had a lot of development.

"This ain't for me," says Cutty. Just like he said about being a gangster. So what IS for you, Cutty?

Ohhhhhh that teacher is Cutty's ex. That's why she looked so familiar

Aww, look! Prez is making a difference! He's reaching the kids!

Poor Bubbles :(

Orphan Black S02E08

Is this a transclone??

I thought Emma from Degrassi was Rachel's assistant?

What's lab assistant guy's name? I like him.

OMG I love Cosima even more. She's a tabletop gamer.

How did Sarah become, like, the head clone?

Felix is making out with a clone! Weird!

What DID happen to Paul? When did we see him last?

So is Tony just a one-episode deal?

COSIMA HAD BETTER NOT DIE.

The Wire S04E06 "Margin of Error"

I remember studying this chapter of Exodus in school!

Y'know? The Freddy scandal was maybe the worst part of the second season of House of Cards. Why escalate that? They take a good character that people like and give him more screen time, but just run him to the ground.

Oh, Prez. You can't save 'em all.

Randy's foster mother seems like a decent lady.

Oh Randy. He's just always wrong place wrong time.

Namond's mother is awwwwwful.

But isn't this just a primary?

Did Cedric's ex win?

Aw, man. I was hoping Littlefinger wouldn't sleep with his campaign strategist lady. How fucking obvious is that. Bo-ring. Oh good. He's not. Man, Teresa doesn't think very highly of men.

Saturday, June 7, 2014

The Wire S04E05 "Alliances"

Why is Bubbles bothering with Sherrod?

I love the look on Prez's face when he's like "I can't believe I"m letting my student break into my car for me." And I also love that the student looks both ways to check if anyone is coming, just out of habit.

Why is Kima taking this so personally? She should know better.

Wait, how did Marlo figure out they're being filmed?

Randy is like a Bubbles-in-training.

I wonder if Prop Joe, or any of these guys, vote. Did Stringer Bell used to vote? He strikes me as the voting type.

Oh kidlings. Why are you going looking for bodies?

The Wire S04E04 "Refugees"

Is this the first time we've seen Prez's wife?

That was some pretty weak hazing of Kima.

Hahaha, they're playing Ridin' Dirty in the rims dealership.

"Ain't no 'bout adoubt it" did Bubble just say?

Good thing everybody's transferred to Homicide. That will be useful when all those bodies in the abandoned building show up.

I want to know more about Bubbles' past.

So what's the deal with Michael? Everyone is interested in this kid.

The Wire S04E03 "Home Rooms"

I love Omar's silk pajama pants and matching robe.

Is that Bunny? Yay Bunny. I'm glad he's not gonoe.

Hey, it's that guy!

I just saw McNulty in 300 last night. I didn't know he's British.

Well things with Beadie escalated quickly.

I like watching Pryz in class. He's my favorite storyline of this season so far.

This is about to get all Dangerous Minds up in here.

You can't say no more wiretaps. This show is called The Wire, dude.

This Renaldo guy is new, right?

Why do these two girls have such a problem with each other? And how did she end up bleeding??

Hidden Palms S01E01 "Pilot"

This show has Amber Heard in it and its written by Kevin Williamson. So why not?

Is that the same kid? I can't tell.

Good thing Amber Heard is wearing a white dress to frolic in the sprinkelrs.

But when do two people ever just meet and frolic through sprinklers together? What even is this?

Why is there a pop song every other scene?

Well this show is pretty terrible so far.

Okay, I love you Amber Heard, but I give up.

The Wire S04E02 "Soft Eyes"

I think teaching will be good for Prez. (And I'm sure he'll run into some kids who roll with the drug crews)

I wonder if Bodie will ever catch anything for having killed Wallace.

I like this scene with Cedric and Ronnie. They're cute together.

Shit Bubbles, I don't know what four times five plus six times seven is.

I keep wanting that second C in Carcetti to be a soft C.

Really? You trust Valchek with this, Herc?

So Cutty's story this season is that women keep hitting on him and cooking for him?

The Wire S04E01 "Boys of Summer"

Ooh, I like this version of the theme song.

Aw, Prez is gonna be a teacher? :)

Wait, did Cedric end up supervising McNulty again?

They showed Littlefinger having sex with that other woman that one time, but they haven't gone back to his infidelity at all. So what was that all about?

Who are these pigeon kids?

It's kind of nice to see Littlefinger get all frustrated and annoyed with what he's doing.

The Wire S03E12 "Mission Accomplished"

It's okay when a character I like dies if there's fallout, consequences. That's what stuck in my craw about Chilton on Hannibal. There was nothin'.

So nobody actually thinks that the Mayor is actually considering this idea, which he actually is?

Come on, McNulty, you knew Stringer was an educated man.

Is this the fist time they've showed Kima having sex? Wait - that's not her wife...

What's all this about an "open air drug market"? Is that somehow worse than a "closed" drug market?

Oh no, is it whatsisface? Aw, it is.

So much for letting the other guy shine, Littlefinger.

That was a nice bit with Cutty and Marlo.

How is Cutty earning money from his gym, though?

Nice image there of the Frank Sobotka posters by the docks.

This is one of those season finales that feels like they weren't sure if they'd get another season or not.

Why is Marlo attending Avon's trial??

Room for One: A Positive Representation of Female Sexuality in 'Bates Motel' published at BitchFlicks

For proof that I can write about television in real, actual paragraphs, I have a piece on Bates Motel published over at Bitch Flicks: http://www.btchflcks.com/2014/05/room-for-one-a-positive-representation-of-female-sexuality-on-bates-motel.html#.U40fVCiKyHc

The Wire S03E11 "Middle Ground"

I kind of want to be a detective sometimes.

Is Cutty trying to get, like, a grant from Avon?

When Bubbles toured Amsterdam, we saw what he saw. When Littlefinger tours Amsterdam, we just watch his face.

This conversation between Avon and String seems like a "last conversation" kind of conversation.

This is some John Woo shit with these pigeons.

Come on, String. You know they don't want money...

The Wire S03E10 "Reformation"

Brother Mouzon is back?

It's nice to see Bunny take an interest in Carver. I guess.

Ooh, Herc is actually TALKING to the reporter?

Chances slim as a garter snake is a nice image.

Hm. Carver and Cutty is a nice match-up.

The fuck?? Why'd Marlo just shoot her? (I mean,  I had a feeling she had an agenda, but...)

I actually like Avon a lot more since he got out of the pokey.

I like where this is going with Cutty and the boxing gym. This is interesting.

Hahahaha - Ronnie with the leg cross.

Was that Rawls at the gay bar?? Is that going to be a thing, or just incidental?

...Did String just turn??

Ohhh, is String going to turn state's witness and then get killed and be Carcetti's platform?

It's actually kind of gratifying to see the big bosses get pissed at Bunny finally.

"Damn, Calvin, you know I got the bingo tonight." Awesome.

Game of Thrones S04E08

Oh good. It's been a long while since we last saw Ygritte.

Sansa is a smart cookie.

Robin as king? That's ridiculous. You're pushing it, Baelish.

Aha! The letter from Tywin!

Jorah is handsome. Who does he remind me of?

But what does Daenarys really lose by losing Jorah? What has Tywin actually accomplished?

This scene where Ramsay becomes a Bolton is *almost* touching.

Arya and Sansa are almost reunited. What will happen to stop it the reunion?

"The Bloody Hound and His Traveling Companion" is my new band name.

Arya laughing is a nice sound.

Did Sansa dye her hair?

What's with this beatle story?

I like Oberyn's ladyfriend's cape. With the shoulders.

Well dammit.

Orphan Black S02E07

Oh, did Vic just let Alison find out on purpose?

Are we ever going to see more of Emma from Degrassi?

Did Cosima just say, "I'm the science"?

Hm, so who's this woman?

It's about time we got around to some clone-as-clone impersonation

I'm glad that Alison and Donnie are finally hashing it out, but where are the kids? Unsupervised in rehab?

Is that the end of Leekie? So now what?

Donnie??

UHHHHHHHH   !!!!

The Wire S03E09 "Slapstick"

Really, McNulty? You're so desperate you take a booty call while your kids are with you?

So Omar does have a suit...

I love Bernard's girlfriend.

What happened to that woman who was living in Hamsterdam?

So Avon just totally forgave String for having D killed?

I'm confused. What just happened?

Oh Pryz. Poor Pryz.

"I didn't give a shit if he was black or whatever. Or maybe I did. How the hell do you know what's in your head?" Good on him for acknowledging implicit bias.

Awww, he's sad he disappointed Lester.

Herc is snitching on Hamsterdam!?

You done screwed up, Carver.

The Wire S03E08 "Moral Midgetry"

I like that Littlefinger's wife and adviser get along together.

That was a good scene, with McNulty and D's mom.

Isn't Marlo like 16 or something?

This woman is real smooth at telling Marlo he didn't satisfy her.

The Wire S0E06 "Homecoming"

Why didn't they round everybody up like this in the first place? There were too many of them?

Cedric keeps drawing away from Stringer. What's going on there? Is Cedric dirty? Or is Stringer undercover? Or is Cedric just a stickler for the rules?

Stringer is sooooo unhappy that Avon is out. And worse, Avon is not listening to him.

Oh come on, McNulty. That woman made it pretty clear you were a one and done.

I should look up Avon/Stringer slash when all this is done.

Oooh, who is Stringer's inside political guy? Just that Senator or whoever?

It is nice to see Cutty doing something he's good at and seems to enjoy.

Does Avon know about the co-op?

I'm waiting for Carcetti to be a total asshole, but besides sleeping with that other woman, he seems okay. He's a political manipulator, but he seems like an okay guy.

I like this relationship between Ronnie and Cedric.

This is the most acting Bunk has done the whole series, I think, this monologue to Omar.

Kima is a smart cookie.

Okay, sure, I respect Cutty for owning up and getting out.

The Wire S03E05 "Straight and True"

"You equivocatin' like a muthafucker." Oh Bubs.

I should start a band called My Girl Kima.

It's nice to see the businessman drugdealer be a person of color (as opposed, say, to Heisenberg).

I like Colvin's bespectacled buddy there.

Colvin seems to be the only person who knows McNulty who actually likes him.

"Is you taking notes on a criminal fucking conspiracy?" Hahaha.

Beating someone up like that seems exhausting.

Oooooh, Avon's out!!

Sometimes Herc seems like a parody of someone from The Shield.

There's a certain amount of humor to this ghettoization of drug turf. But it's messed up, too.

I don't understand how these things happen. One minute they're chatting, and the next they're in the bedroom taking their clothes off. What happens in between??

Idris Elba in a suit is the best thing everrrr.

The Wire S03E04 "Amsterdam"

When are they going to get around to making me care about Cutty?

When did Lester agree to start going after Stringer?

Ohhh now Jimmy's going to find out about Cedric and whatserface!

Sunday, May 25, 2014

The Wire S03E03 "Dead Soldiers"

"I think I might legalize drugs" I like Bunny.

They *literally* lay the body out at the bar??

Orphan Black S02E06

Sarah asking Helena about what the Proletheans did to her is the first time she has showed interest in Helena.

Really? You're just going to leave Helena in the car and tell her not to cause any troube? What's the chance of that working?

"You have very pretty eyes." "You have a nice hat." I LOLed.

I don't understand what Scott found. The stem cells they're using on Cosima are from one of the clones' daughters or nieces?

Allison is just befriending everyone from Sarah's life. (Everyone = Felix and Vic.)

Oh no. Is Siobhan going to kill the birds?

Hannibal S02E13

Interesting clock-ticking score this episode - in the teaser, in this scene with Bella.

And we're also back to the piano. No more of the Japanese percussion.

This episode is almost a little too stylized.

"They know" - same thing Hannibal said to Garret Jacob Hobbes.

Goddamn I enjoy watching Mads Mikkelson fight.

If Alana gets killed I'm going to be so pissed.

Alana with the gun reminds me of Clarie with the gun in Buffalo Bill's house.

(I figured Abigail was alive. No shock there.)

"You were supposed to leave." "We couldn't leave without you."

The police have now been called to this address twice. Where are they??

Well this is just a bloodbath.

Well. I guess we'll see what happens next season?

WHAAAAAAAAT??? Of all the things I didn't see coming...

Saturday, May 24, 2014

The X-Files S07E01 "The Sixth Extinction: Part 1"

Look at all those bugs. Quick! Call Bambi!

So is this a ten plagues thing? Locusts, boils, blood... They're out of order, though.

So Mulder became an alien because he looked at a pencil rubbing of that fragment? Why only him? Or was he an alien all along?

I'm waiting for a big expository monologue.

Law & Order: SVU S15E23: Spring Awakening

Donal Logue is always so eager to go undercover.

Well at least this German tourist got to see the famous NYPD in action.

Munch!!

So Munch can come back for Amaro, but Stabler can't come back for Bencon?

Ohhhhhh now I remember where Baby Boy Doe comes from.

Maybe Amaro's luck would change if he stopped being an idiot.

Benson was a lot more sympathetic when it was Mischa Barton in the same position as this girl.

I like that the hooker told Fin that Ellie was green-lit, so Fin explains to her what green-lit means.

A judge's hunch? Really? Hasn't Benson done the guardian thing before?

Monday, May 19, 2014

Game of Thrones S04E07

Is he killing those fools just for practice??

I would like to see a children's book called "Arya and the Hound." "And on their journey, Arya and the Hound came across a man dying next to his wheelbarrow."

I hope this isn't the last we see of Bronn :-/

Beefcake.

Does the Red Woman keep her Vagisil and her toothpaste on the same shelf?

Aw shit, people the Lord of Light needs usually end up dead. Stannis is not going to be happy about this.

"'No fire!' shouted the Hound, backing away from Arya."

It seems like the Hound's burn scarring has gotten less grotesque over time. Is that just my perception?

So is Littlefinger like the Snape of this series?

Everyone's headed to the Aerie, so clearly something disastrous is going to happen here.

I feel kind of bad for Lyssa. Her anxiety is so crippling. Get her some SSRIs and I'm sure she'd be perfectly nice.

Orphan Black S02E05

I do feel bad for Rachel. I feel like now there is no chance of Rachel and the other clones working together on the same side. But, she's not quite a villain, is she?

Why doesn't Gracie want to say what happened with Helena?

How did they find out about Cal? I guess Daniel must have mentioned it?

With the fishtank Helena reminds me of Delirium.

WAS HE SENT TO KILL FELIX??

Oh, he's just getting Felix's prints on the gun.

I'm so glad Leekie is explaining this. It's starting to make sense now.

This season feels like a lot of lead up to something.

Hannibal S02E12

What's this piano music?

Gillian Anderson is so hot. Such a babe. Wow.

That jello fish dinner looks gross.

I love when Hannibal talks about God.

Why is the score so different this episode?

Hannibal would be such a catch if he weren't a people-eater.

Why does Will save Hannibal? Because Michael Pitt is an unpredictable psycho, where as Hannibal is calculating?

What IS that stuff?? I can't really understand what Hannibal is saying. Is that the point?

I would like a chart of all of Will's dogs and their names.

Michael Pitt would make a good Joker.

Winston wasn't having any of that.

How did Michael Pitt make a "m" sound without any lips?

So Hannibal broke Michael Pitt's neck, and he didn't die, and Michael Pitt isn't giving him up. Huh?

I love Margot's make-up! And her outfit.

So...is this still a friendship? What Will and Hannibal have?

The Wire S03E02: All Due Respect

Hahaha, the Poe/po' house.

Oh, Omar.

Good song! Woof.

Oh. I get it. Dog fights.

Why do they pour milk on the dog? (Was that milk?)

I like the way they filmed the dog fight. Graphic without being explicit.

I hadn't felt compelled to watch The Wire, lately, but I've missed these characters.

Wait, how did those guys rig the dog fight?

Herc has a wife?

Ohhhh, they're going to feel sooooo dumb when they realize Cheese is talking about a dog. (But really, who says they "cap" a dog's "ass"?)

Bodie looks really goofy with his do rag straps hanging down like that.

Really, Rhonda?

The X-Files S06E21: Biogenesis

A department head should not call one of his colleagues an embarrassment, especially a possibly dead colleague, and ESPECIALLY if the department head is trying to frame the possibly dead colleague for murder.

Who is this Chuck guy? Have we seen him before?

HAHAHAHAHA. Mulder's gesture at 18:19 is precious.

I would be more interested in COSMOS if it were hosted by Dana Scully instead of Neil Degrasse Tyson.

Another season finale, another near-death experience for Mulder.

Krycek, you bastard.

HOW HAS NO ONE NOTICED THAT??

Friday, May 16, 2014

Person of Interest S03E18

I really like Shaw's makeup in this episode.

Shaw is such a badass.

I saw the romance angle coming, but I'm not sure if I like it.

Wouldn't stealing the letter be a good idea even if it weren't fraudulent?

Why did Omar go with them?

Wait, why did the guy shoot Lapointe?

Pretty unremarkable episode with a weak tie-in to the meta plot.

Old guy seems like he belongs on the Syndicate in the X-Files.

Thursday, May 15, 2014

Law & Order: SVU S15E22: Thought Criminal

Amaro has SUCH a bad attitude.

Whoa, Donal Logue, commitment to the role.

This episode is kind of like a dramatization of something out of Laura Kipnis' "Bound and Gagged"

I don't think Benson crossed a line with her interrogation.

Is this case going to be the end of Donal Logue at SVU? Is he going to push too far for a victim that doesn't exist?

YAAAAAYYY!!!!!!!! Huang!!!!! This episode just got 1000x better.

Wait, what is the charge in this trial?

Okay, so what will happen in the last three hours to drive home some message?

Ohhh, is this a set up for the finale??

Even Stabler never hunted down a pedophile without provocation.

Tuesday, May 13, 2014

Law & Order: SVU S15E21: Reasonable Doubt

Amaro and Rollins are doing it!! (This has otherwise been a good, ol' formulaic L&O episode)

Why would she bring her daughter to the set??

Mavis totally isn't unconnected to all this, somehow.

Is "tread carefully" a legal term? Or just something that judges say a lot after "I'll allow it"?

"I meditate a lot" is your answer for why she lied to the cops?

Donal Logue with the real talk!!

Is this supposed to be a Woody Allen thing? Where's the open letter?

Why is he just blabbering on the stand? And what's with these looks Olivia is giving?

What's with all the real-life TV personalities on this one episode?

Yeah, Mavis should have testified in court, not on TV.

Wait, didn't the cops say they found hairs in the laundry room? Were those entered into evidence?

Hannibal S02E11

I would like them to introduce some new female characters, given that they axed Beverly and have reduced Alana to little more than a sex object. And Freddie might be dead too.

Flaming guy on a wheel chair - doesn't that happen to Philip Seymour Hoffman's character in one of the Hannibal movies?

So Freddie's dead, too. So the only ladies left are Alana and Anna Chlumsky, who we haven't seen since she shot and killed Chilton.

Oh right! Margot! They introduced Margot.

Hannibal seems so amused by this situation with Margot and Will.

I read somewhere that Michael Pitt in this is channeling Jerry Horne and it's SO TRUE.

Who is this kid he's messing with?

I need a "Have a chocolate" gif ASAP. Get on it, tumblr.

I'm not sure what I think about the direction the show is taking with Hannibal becoming Will's murder mentor.

Alana is jealous of Will's relationship with Hannibal.

I'm surprised Alana doesn't already have a gun.

Hannibal seems really impatient with Michael Pitt. What's his endgame?

More mentions of Hannibal's sister.

"Did you kill her?" Was Will asking about Abigail or about Hannibal's sister? Because it sounded like the latter, but Hannibal answered the former.

Since when is Alana profiling killers at crime scenes?

Jack listens to Alana/Will and Hannibal/Will make their IRL subtweets in their profiles and he's like "I can't even."

What's this weird shot-reverse-shot ting they're doing?

"You saw part of her." Are you serious right now, Hannibal?

How many appointments has Hannibal had this episode? And what's his rate? He's making bank. (Are Will's sessions pro bono?)

Who's that???

Margot's eyelashes are amazing.

Will is not going to be happy about this. (And obviously Margot is upset, too.)

Is Alana just projecting onto Jack now? What is this scene? Jack has been doing like nothing for the past few episodes.

Oh good! Freddie's alive!

How did Will convince Jack to go along with this?

Orphan Black S02E04

I'm not sure how I feel about Gracie, or how I'm supposed to feel about her.

Using the dead Dyad guy's phone is a bad idea. They can track it. Sarah should know better.

Helena's just playing possum, right? Right.

Hm. So what does Cal know about Dyad?

Ooohhhh Dyad guy is alive.

Ooohhh, was Mrs. S sleeping with this guy? Hot.

Nice to Mrs. S get busy. I guess.

Uh oh. Donny's bringing custody into this.

Who was in the closet???

Nice scene - Cosima's speculation over the home videos.

So was it Helena in the closet? How did she get there?

Whaaaaaaaat?

Monday, May 12, 2014

Game of Thrones S04E06

It's been a while since we had gratuitous naked ladies.

I feel like Yara and Stannis would get along well. (Both are first over the wall.)

Ramsay Snow might be #1 on my list of people I wouldn't want to bathe me.

I know some book readers were upset that we saw Theon being tortured before it should have been revealed. But I think we're not really seeing the full scope and ramifications until right now.

This scene with Daenarys and the goatherd reminds me of the scene from The Emperor's New Groove where the peasant asks Yzma for more food.

I like Oberyn Martell.

Two seasoned warriors counseling her that she's barely listening to.

This scene with Oberyn and Varys is good.

Interesting when the guy in the crowd calls Tyrion "Kingslayer" - he gets to be like his brother for once.

How do they find residue from a poison on a necklace? With a forensics lab?

It would be funny if "punished accordingly" meant that he had to pick up garbage or something and they weren't going to execute him after all.

Tyrion is so not going to ask for mercy.

OOoooh, now Tyrion is DEFINITELY not going to ask for mercy.

Tywin is so casual about sitting on the iron throne.

So is Shae just doing a "woman scorned" sort of thing? Or is she being manipulated somehow?

This speech is Peter Dinklage's run at an Emmy, eh?

These Tyrion/Tywin stares are intense!

So does Tyrion get a second in his trial by combat? Jaime? Bronn? Or will he forgo a second and fight himself?

Once Upon a Time S03E22: There's No Place Like Home

Season Finale! I hear there's a twist.

Ugh. Is the twist that Neal is coming back to life?

Oh I think there's one more episode after this.

Okay, who is this lady in the jail?

How did Red get her dress back on?

Rescuing that woman is obviously a bad idea and/or somehow significant. But WHO IS SHE?

Marion! Is it Maid Marion??

I don't remember where the dark fairy dust came from. Or what she eventually used it on.

Are they going to burn Snow White at the stake INSIDE?

"Yeah, that's her." Really? Charming can tell that the ladybug is Snow White? He met her like once.

I have enjoyed these two time travel episodes more than I enjoyed the entire past season.

If the mystery lady is Zelena in disguise I will be PISSED.

How did Regina know Snow was still alive?

Good thing Belle reminded us about this vault last episode!

They're being really careless with this lady. Obviously her family that thinks she's dead will be in Storybrooke.

That was a fun little romp.

Oh and this episode aired on Mother's Day, right?

Awww, the look on Rumplestiltskin's face when they revealed the baby's name. :)

Hooray for heterosexual couplings!

These vows are awfully long.

Yup. Totally Marion.

"I brought someone back from the past." Did she ever tell Regina she went to the past?

What is that?

OMG IT'S ELSA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Once Upon a Time S03E21: Snow Drifts

Haha, Emma accusing the Charmings of stalling for time in order to stall for time.

Regina's makeup in this scene with Robin Hood is like when she was younger. It's nice :)

When Belle finds out that Rumple lied she's going to be all like, "You lied to me!"

Hey! It's Ruby! We haven't seen her in forever.

And now Emma is going to change the past so that she's in it. Right?

But obviously Snow and Charming will get together otherwise Emma would, like, disappear.

Ooooh, is this the Orphan Black episode of Once Upon a Time?

Ha! Princess Leia! That's good.

None of these dresses are in the right style. They all look like 90s prom dresses.

Snow left her box at the foot of the wall.

Of course killing these guards makes no difference to anyone in the future, right?

Is this the first time we've really seen Emma's chest/cleavage?

Bates Motel S02E10: The Immutable Truth

I like that the sheriff is so crooked. It makes everything more interesting.

Is Norman making a final bucket list?

Sigh. Why doesn't anyone ever listen to Sheriff Romero?

Jesus, Norma. Why you always crying? You're a strong woman. You can do shit.

Whaaaaaat? Mouth kissing?

If I were Norman I'd milk the hell out of this. "Pancakes every day, or I kill myself."

This Mother hallucination during the polygraph test is the best one yet.

Great final shot. (Mostly because it echoes the final shot of Psycho, but still.)

Once Upon a Time S03E20: Kansas

Fighting evil big-bads isn't what makes this show interesting. I hope they get that for next season.

Aww, Dorothy's hour didn't crush anyone.

Zelena is really dumb. Also, why hasn't anyone tried to just melt her with water?

Regina is the only good thing about this episode.

How did they know about the jewel?

Ugh, what are they going to do to get rid of Zelena? Because I don't want her anymore.

Oh good, Regina threatened to crush Zelena's heart. So she's not ALL good.

I don't think your crypt is so safe anymore, Regina. Everyone knows about it.

Awww, poor Hook.

What? Why did she turn to porcelain? Oh well. At least she's gone.

But seriously, Rumple? You lie to Belle and ask her to marry you?

Wait, so is this green fog Zelena? Is she still out there? Uggghhhhhh

Monday, May 5, 2014

Person of Interest S03E17

"I couldn't make you look bad if I tried." Hooray for Root/Shaw!

I'm surprised their phones don't get crushed more often.

That ketchup bottle cap is not on right.

What happened with that guy at the end of last episode?

Game of Thrones S04E05

"Long may he reign." Yeah. Right. Good luck with that.

Wait, Daario Naharis isn't Cal from Orphan Black, is he?

I'm kind of glad the freedom Daenarys has been leaving in her wake has been short-lived.

She has great eyebrows, though.

So Littlefinger has been orchestrating things from the beginning?

You would think Tywin would be cool with Cersei and Jaime getting together, what with his "We can only trust ourselves" thing.

Poor, poor Sansa.

Pod & Brienne is the new buddy pair, eh?

I like Oberyn's hips. That low-slung belt.

"Everywhere in the world they hurt little girls." Hm.

Hodor didn't want to kill anybody.

Come on, Jon Snow. Put an end to this cut-rate Peter Lorre impersonator with bad hair.

Orphan Black S02E03

OMG. She's peeing in a field. I love this show.

This store clerk is adorable.

Another clone!

(I love Cosima's eyeliner.)

I am once again surprised that Brian K Vaughan isn't involved with this show.

I love the way Sarah talks to Kira. She's just straight with her.

I like his beard too, Kira.

Awwww, poor Felix! But I like this interaction between him and Srah.

Is Cosima going to autopsy her own clone?? How eerie!!

Didn't Delphine kiss Leekie at some point? Did they just abandon that storyline? Or did I imagine that?

Ah. So Alison thinks Angie is another monitor.

Angie is not very good at playing soccer mom.

Wait, what happened to Paul?

Ohhhhh Alison, do not self-medicate before opening night.

Is Kira going to get snatched? Because MAN

Aww, I liked that sheriff guy.

You're going to make your captive drive? That seems unwise.

Oh good, we don't have to wait until next episode to see what the plan is for Helena. (I hope it's not rape...)

Oh. Forced marriage. Poor Helena.

Grace don't like it.

Hannibal S02E10

I hope they get around to addressing the Chilton murder soon...

And how are they going to explain this to Jack?

Oooohhh look how Hannibal gently dresses Will's wounds.

Gross.

So Hannibal and Will are in cahoots now? How are they going to play this

That's the best "This is my design" of  the series yet.

Will looks great in a scarf.

Oh my god, Freddi's cheekbones.

Is that Michael Pitt? It is!

Well that was an elaborate threat.

Weird little scene with the theremin, there.

I don't remember who shot Will. Jack?

Well this is an interesting sex scene. All kinds of interesting. (A gift from the slash gods? Among other things...)

I am again blown away that this is network television.

Why does Freddi suddenly believe Will about Hannibal?

I've never heard lesbianism referred to as "button-stitching"

Wasn't Hannibal's sister the rot of all his issues? Something in the Holocaust, maybe?

I love hearing Hannibal talk about lambs.

Is all this talk of boundaries some sort of sexual negotiation?

"We know where we are with each other" Uh huh.

That's all we needed to see? Hannibal wearing his clear suit in Freddi's room? (With a stag painting over the bed, no less)

I love this show. I love watching this show.

Surely Will would know better than to hold onto the skeleton suit. (I guess not.)

So in this season Will turns into the killer people were convinced he was by the end of last season?

Whaaaaat is happening?

I'm not sure how I feel about this.

"We'll make it together" is a great line. "You slice the ginger" is even better. But is that really Freddi??

This is the strangest dinner date ever.

Nice overlay of their faces at the end there.

I have no idea where this is going, but I anticipate it very much.

Law & Order: SVU S15E20: Post-Mortem Blues

The problem with this season of SVU is that it doesn't lend itself very well to random reruns, which is the bread & butter of Law & Order

Elliot REALLY should show up after this.

A) Way to not mention that you totally LOST Benson because you weren't paying attention, and B) I don't think your assumptions are admissable

What is the point of questioning this forewoman? Is this allowed? And did no one mention she helped Lewis escape?

Like, it's unbelievable to me that after all those years together Stabler doesn't even visit Benson.

Retirement paperwork???

Yeah Murphy!!

Unless this means that Murphy is going to have to leave being Captain? Because I like him being Captain so Olivia doesn't have to be.

Oh good, Murphy in charge. I like this development. I didn't want Liv to stay Captain.
