True Detective S01E05

Damn impressive how well he can speak with a cigarette in his mouth. I guess.

"Anti-intruder devices" = grenades

Breaking Bad has given me unrealistic expectations of meth cook houses.

Now they're emphasizing the difference between the spoken narrative and the visual narrative. Does this reinforce/imply that what we see is truth?

So far, there is no forensic evidence to back up this story.

What was behind that door.

Ah. There's the evidence.

"This is a world where nothing is solved."

An episode that starts off with a happy ending can't be going anywhere good.

Oooh it's psycho girl from The Walking Dead!

Way to slut-shame your own daughter, ass.

I want one of those little beer-can men. I would pay good money for a True Detective beer-can man.

"Deal with me" is a loaded way to ask for a deal, in this context.

Now the present day story is starting to move.

So now the structure is shifting.

(This show is so ripe for academic analysis. Love it.)

They're trying to pull a Keyser Soze moment here, of sorts.
